about me
professional
Over the past decade and a half, I've had the privilege of working as a full-stack development lead and chief technologist. I have a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams, driving technical strategy, and scaling engineering processes in early-stage startups. Solving real-world problems is my jam. I'm not easily distracted by Shiny New Toysâ„¢ and eschew yak shaving.
personal
I consider myself a generalist, with more interests than time. See /currently for a few things I've been practicing recently.
I was born and raised in the United States but have lived in several countries over the past decade.

credo
- accessibility should be a forethought
- artificial intelligence, in its current state, is a poor substitute for human intelligence
- there is no such thing as a white lie
- there is only experience
currently
these practices have recently occupied most of my free time:
- mountain ultra trail running
- traditional (trad) rock climbing
- sourdough
- fermentation
- hydroponic cultivation of culinary plants
- Dzogchen-ish, secular mindfulness
- fatherhood
- gongfu tea

The more time I spend building web UIs, the more I find myself nostalgic for a time when websites were simple, fast, and focused on content – an era with less fluff. My frustration isn't rooted in a dislike for CSS or JavaScript, but rather in how poorly they're often wielded on today's web. What once served as a flourish to enhance user experience has now been twisted into something which is actively harmful to the user.
Paradoxically, I love the interactivity that modern web technologies can offer, and the modern development experience is (sometimes) a joy. I just wish they were used more thoughtfully and sparingly. The web should be about the content. It should be about the people who use it, not the technology that powers it. There is a better way.
